(Vauxhall, Alberta) The Havre Northstars won the North District American Legion Baseball tournament on Sunday afternoon with an 8-2 victory over the Lethbridge Miners. Trailing 2 to 1 after three innings the Northstars scored five runs in their half of the fourth to go ahead for good. In the 5 run inning, Drake Beerreth reached second base on a Lethbridge error. Chson Mader singled driving in Berreth, Colter Solomon followed with an RBI Double. Brody Nanini and Ezra Pyle also drove in runs in the game deciding inning.
Havre collected 10 hits on the day. Ezra Pyle had two and Colter Solomon had three. The Northstars took advantage of 5 Lethbridge errors.
Terek Shipp got the win on the mound for Havre. The righty went all seven innings allowing 5 hits, he struck out 3 and had one walk.
With the District Championship, Havre will be the number one seed out of the North at next week’s State Tournament in Laurel.
