Boys and Girls Club New School Year Hours and Other Items

(Havre) – The Boys and Girls Club of the Hi-line has a new schedule for the coming school year starting the first day of school this fall. Executive Director Tim Brurud of the Boys and Girls club explains the new hours the facility will have.

“With the new 4-day schedule, obviously, we’re going to have to make some changes. We really want to do our best to support the kids in the community and our school district. So this school year we will be open after school Monday through Thursday and then on Fridays from noon till 6:00 that’ll be every Friday where there’s no school or where there’s a support Friday. Obviously, on those Fridays where there’s regular school, we will be open on our regular after-school hours.”

Brurud also talks about when registration will open.

“One of the things we want to let people know is that we’re going to be registering kids a little earlier this year. We’ll actually be opening our school year registration this Friday, the 28th. That’s to help us get a handle on how many kids will be attending on Fridays. we know that staffing is going to be our big challenge this year. We would have loved to have been open all day on Fridays, but it just wasn’t possible to staff that. There’s just not enough people to do four days of our regular schedule and then an all-day Friday, so this is the best we could do.”

Brurud went on to talk about upcoming programming during the school year made possible through a 21st century grant.

“We’re looking forward to having a great school year program we have our new 21st Century Grant that’s going to be a little bit more geared towards reading and math. So, we have some great curriculum that we’re going to be doing with the kids and we consulted with the school district on what programs they thought would best compliment what they’re doing. So, we look forward to working with them throughout the school year to help our kids do a little better in math and reading and help them catch up from covid which I think we’re all still trying to catch up from.”

Brurud goes on to talk about Job opportunities through the Boys and Girls club.

“So, we’re going to have some part-time positions available it still kind of remains to be seen. We’re going to be looking at you know the numbers that we need for those Fridays in particular so it could be the Monday through Friday it could just be Fridays; we’re going to take a look at the numbers and try and adapt to that. We also have a couple part-time positions open prevention specialist human resources and some compliance. all that’s on the website so if people are interested, they can just click on that tab download the application and apply right online.”
