The MSU-Northern Football Lights wrapped up summer camp this past week and are already transitioning one step closer to the start of the 2023 season.
Before turning the page to the next chapter, MSU-N head football coach Jerome Souers took some time to look back on the training camp that was, which included the most participants he has had since arriving in Havre before the start of last season.
“We were really pleased with the commitment of the young people here during that stretch of time,” Souers said. “Our numbers were in the mid-60s for July training, which is really high for a team like us.”
“The guys are training in the weight room, working on agility and various movements that help make the transition to August a lot easier,” Souers continued.
Coach Souers said that since his full team will now be able to participate in upcoming Fall Camp that the next objective is making sure that the new players gel with the veterans on the team.
“The guys that are in are new. The big challenge now is integrating the new guys with the guys that are here,” Souers said. “It’s happening right now as we speak and I’m excited about what kind of team this is becoming.”
The Lights open Fall Camp on Aug. 1 and will have that run for a couple of weeks after that before the regular season begins on Aug. 26.
