The Havre Blue Ponies volleyball team will play two games this week against familiar opponents. The first head-to-head matchups following the Fergus Tournament back in late August were against East Helena on the road and Browning at home. Now, the Blue Ponies get to compete in the opposite fixtures, with Havre going on the road to Browning on Thursday followed by a home match with East Helena on Saturday.
Head coach Cassie Krueger broke down how her team is going to have to have the same successes against both of their opponents after sweeping them the first time around.
“(We) just have to keep focusing on our side, work on our offense, (and) make sure our defense is there,” Krueger said. “Making sure that we’re just communicating and that we’re not having any miscommunications or blunders on our side of the net.”
Saturday will be a particularly special matchup for Havre, who play their Homecoming match. With it being coach Krueger’s first year at the helm of the program, she discussed how special it will be for her and what her squad is doing at the halfway mark of the season to prepare.
“I’m super excited to be part of the first homecoming season I will be coaching in,” Krueger said. “(The players) are very focused and they’re very ready to get into it. We’re midseason at this point, so we’re just fine-tuning.”
Again, it will be the Blue Ponies on the road at Browning on Thursday and then back home on Saturday to play the East Helena Vigilantes. C-Squad at 1pm, JV at 2:30pm, and Varsity at 4pm.
