(US Dept of Energy) – The US National Science Foundation and the US Department of Energy have established a Research Coordination Network (RCN) for the sole purpose of advancing privacy research, and the development, deployment, and scaling of privacy enhancing technologies (PET).
The move is in response to rapid evolution of data collection and analysis behind artificial intelligence advances.
One of the primary goals is to address barriers to widespread adoption of PETs, including regulation. The RCN hopes to understand the risks of data sharing and analytics for marginalized and vulnerable groups.
The RCN team looks to drive meaningful progress in developing PETs for a more privacy conscious approach in an era defined by rapid advancement of technology.
