It’s been an up-and-down stretch for the MSU-Northern rodeo teams, which just competed at the Miles City College Rodeo, the penultimate event before the regular season concludes. New Media Broadcasters spoke with Northern rodeo coach Doug Kallenberger and he shared his thoughts on what his talent’s individual experience down south provided.
“We finally got quite a few kids in the (Short Go),” Kallenberger said. “Once again, we didn’t finish and capitalize on the things that we should’ve.”
“At the end of the day, we had some individual success,” Kallenberger continued. “There are still a few things that we need to loosen up and just let our body react instead of forcing some things.”
“Overall, I think we’re on the right track for the last weekend,” Kallenberger said.
The MSU-Northern rodeo teams will be wrapping up the regular season from Friday to Saturday. Kallenberger said that this time will be a good indicator to see what his team is capable of doing, but knows that there are more important events down the line as the College National Finals Rodeo will be here before we know it.
“It’s nice. We have one week left,” Kallenberger said. “The great thing is that we’ve talked about individual accomplishments and the team follows.”
“(There are) just a lot of things where I’m just letting the kids (show that) the pressure is off,” Kallenberger continued. “‘Go have fun. If it goes your way, it goes your way and if not, oh well.'”
“It’s nice just to go in and you’re not on the defensive mode; you’re on the offense,” Kallenberger said.
New Media Broadcasters will have results following the second night of the University of Montana Rodeo this weekend.
