Sugarbeeters Football Moving Quickly As Winning Streak Rolls On

Chinook’s football team put together another brilliant performance on the field last Friday night, defeating Shelby on homecoming, (44-12). This was the first time all season that the Sugarbeeters won back-to-back games. Head coach Mike Jones said what has been so special about the team’s output recently.

“We just had a team effort when it came down to our kids wanting to win at Hoon Field,” Jones said. “They really executed the game plan pretty well I thought in all phases of the game.”

“Whether it was our defense, passing, or running, all that stuff, (it) came together really well,” Jones continued.

The turnaround will be much quicker as Chinook plays a rare Thursday night game down in Rocky Boy. Jones said this has been an easy adjustment for his players because of past experiences coaching on Thursdays and also broke down how the practice schedule has been moved up to a more accelerated flow.

“We just had to put together a full day (on Tuesday) in terms of offense and defense, where normally we split up some days,” Jones said. “The kids are used to it because sometimes we throw in that wrinkle of them knowing that there’s going to be a Thursday game or we have a JV game kind of thing.”

“Our boys took it in stride and we had a pretty good practice this week,” Jones continued.

The Sugarbeeters (3-2) will battle the Northern Stars (0-4) on Thursday night with a 7pm kickoff from Rocky Boy. Tony Vigliotti will have you covered on KRYK-101.3FM and HiLineToday.com.
