Harlem Public Schools has released information detailing a grant contest that they have been chosen to participate in as one of 10 finalists. SoFi Technologies is running the “SoFi Game Changers Challenge”, which will award $100,000 in grant money to be divided up between six athletics programs. The grand prize winner will receive a $50,000 grant and $10,000 will be given to five other schools.
The Wildcat’s athletics department is asking to be sponsored for an upgrade to the football and track facilities around the field. The lights in the football stadium were installed during the 1970s, while the program last hosted a track and field meet in the 1980s. To show how valued the monetary funds could be, the school put together a two-minute video saying why they should be the grand prize winner with its student athletes reenacting bloopers of how football games and meets have gone for them in the past.
Out of the 10 schools, Harlem is the only one to represent the Treasure State, while other deserving institutions are from Oregon, California, Utah, Mississippi, Missouri, and North Carolina.
Voting is free at sofigamechangers.com/vote and ends on Monday, November 4th. A verifiable email address is required to submit a vote.
