Havre, MT – Montana State University-Northern Lights football season is about to kick underway with six new faces on the sideline.
After a 1-8 season in 2024 head coach of the Lights program, Jerome Souers, made massive changes to his staff for the 2025 season.
The first is familiar name and face to MSU-Northern fans, in a new role. Dylan Wampler was a 5-year starter and All-American for Northern and served as a student assistant in 2024. Now in 2025, Wampler has been moved to defensive coordinator.
As for the six new faces, those coaches all take position coaching spots on Souers’ staff. Joseph Newman and Zach Brooks joined the staff in January. Newman to is set as the quarterbacks coach, and Brooks is set to coach the running backs after completing his career at Northern as the starting QB
Out of Atlanta Georgia is Northerns new wide receivers coach, Caleb Star. The new defensive backs coach for the Lights is Cooper Siudek and was an assistant at the University of Oregon for the last four seasons.
Rounding out the new faces on the staff is Michael Smith who joins the in a managerial position of player personnel and operations.
Northern kicks off the season against Carroll College, who placed fourth in the west division of the preseason coaches poll, at 1p.m. on Tilleman Field, Saturday, August 3o.
