Havre, MT – In their longest and possibly toughest road trip of the marathon 22 game conference season, the MSU-Northern skylights pulled away from Bellevue on Friday night (75-63) but fell to fifth ranked Dakota Sate Saturday (79-61).
Coach Mouat was proud his how tough his team was to secure the win late vs Bellevue.
“The opening night was great. Kids played really hard and we finally pulled away in the end. ” Canzas HisBadHorse and Luran Gunn led the team in scoring with 16 points each.
Against Dakota State the Skylights kept it close but late game execution and mistakes cost them.
“Dakota State was a game where the scoreboard really deceptive because it shows an 18-point loss, which is true that’s what it is but our kids played really really well for about 35 minutes. In that last five minutes they were able to turn us over a little bit and convert it and some of those conversions were threes. So, it kind of got away from us in the last quarter, but going in down five we will take our chances.” Coach Mouat said.
The Skylights will look to correct those mistakes and get back in the win column on Saturday November 29, against Stephens College at 5p.m.
