Stevensville Tech Levy for School District

(KPAX) After being rejected earlier this year, the residents of Stevensville are being asked once again to vote on a technology levy for the Stevensville school district in November.

The earlier proposal requested $250,000 for each of the two districts, for a total of $500,000. Following the declined vote, the districts surveyed the voters, and learned that there was a misconception of what the funds were to be used for.

According to Superintendent Jon Konen, it wasn’t to put new screens in front of students, but more for door access and general security measures.

On the November ballot, the district lowered the amount of the request to $150,000 for each district, or $300,000 combined.

The current effective levy sunsets this year. If the November request fails, the school will then be forced to pull the necessary funding from the general fund, and force cuts to the technology budget.
