(Helena) Five amicus briefs were filed in support of Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen’s petition asking the Supreme Court of the United States to reverse a decision that allows minors to have abortions without needing their parents approval.
Knudsen says this was a flawed Montana Supreme Court decision that puts the health and safety of children seeking an abortion at further risk.
Knudsen continues that Montana courts erred by holding that a minor child’s right to privacy specifically, their right to get an abortion, is more important than a parent’s federal fundamental right to direct the care and custody of their child.
Knudsen is joined by 16 other attorneys general, 38 organizations and companies, and Montana Governor Greg Gianforte.
