The Havre Blue Pony softball squad went on the road this past Saturday and swept Custer County in their season-opening doubleheader.
In the first game, Havre’s offense came alive in the fourth to score 11 runs in the frame, as they came away with a 20-2 victory.
The Ponies posted 20 hits, and Lizzi Haney had a game-high six RBIs. Avery Carlson dominated in the circle and at the plate, as she allowed just one hit over four innings and had two hits and an RBI on offense.
The second game was a similar story, with the Ponies winning in blowout fashion, 19-1.
Carlson and Haney combined for six hits and three RBIs, while Danni Wirtzberger had one hit and three RBIs.
In the circle, Molly Huse allowed just four hits and one run in four innings of work.
Next up for the Ponies is their home opener this Thursday at 4 PM against Fergus County. The game was initially scheduled for Tuesday but was postponed due to high winds.
