Bruce Maxwell’s Predictive Crop Inspiration

(Bozeman) – A Montana state team of researchers has developed a predictive technology to dial in precision agriculture approaches for producers. Bruce Maxwell a professor of Agroecology at the Montana State University who developed the program explains what inspired it.

“Well, I just recognized the fact that there’s all this new information but it’s not being used very wisely, or it’s not being used in a very thorough manner that it could really make their operation be more efficient. So, I want to determine if that’s really the case, is a specific application of inputs any better than just doing broadcast applications or uniform applications across the field. So, we make those kinds of comparisons and pretty close to 100% of the time you’re better off to do application.”
