Chinook Girls Basketball Clinches State Berth

The most critical game of the season for Chinook girls’ basketball took place on Monday night. The Lady Beeters challenged Poplar for their spot in the 2024 MHSA Class B State Tournament, which takes place later this week. The result would be a continuation of Chinook’s season as they knocked off Poplar in Glasgow, (62-39) and moved on to the MHSA Class B State Basketball Tournament.

The Lady Beeters were down (11-6) at the end of the first quarter, but Chinook rallied and the route was on. All told, the final three quarters was Chinook 56, Poplar 28.

Senior forward Hallie Neibauer dominated in the biggest moments, scoring 36 points to lead the Lady Beeters. 28 of her points came in the final 16 minutes of the game. Junior guard Alexus Seymour was the other Chinook player in double-figures with 10 points.

The turnaround will be quick for Chinook as they head to Billings to compete in the Class B State Tournament with first round action beginning Thursday. The Lady Beeters will be the No. 2 seed out of the Northern ‘B’ and face off with the Baker Lady Spartans (19-4). Coverage begins around 5pm on KRYK-101.3FM and
