E-Gates Debuting at TSA Checkpoints

(WASHINGTON D.C.) —New electronic gates (eGates) are debuting at TSA security checkpoints to help expedite identity verification in select airports, thanks to a new TSA public-private partnership.
The eGates allow TSA to automatically compare traveler biometrics with their identity document and boarding pass without the need for a human operator, enhancing efficiency and security. CLEAR, a private company operating under TSA’s Registered Traveler Program, is piloting these specific eGates in coordination with TSA at no cost to U.S. taxpayers.
CLEAR eGates have debuted at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Atlanta and are rolling out at Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington D.C. and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Seattle.
