The Frontier conference came out with its basketball awards on Wednesday afternoon. MSU-Northern had two recipients for the women’s team and three from the men who stood out.
For the Skylights, junior post player Canzas HisBadHorse earned Frontier Conference All-Second Team honors. The Lame Deer product shot 51.6 percent from the field, which was second in the Frontier. She averaged 13.8 points a contest. Her teammate, senior guard Katelynn Forner, was named to the All-Defensive Team. The Camas, WA native tied a program record with 10 steals in a game this season and was also fourth in conference in steals, averaging almost two per game.
Havre native and Carroll College star Kyndall Keller took home the Player of the Year.
The Lights had two players as honorable mentions: senior Jack Reardon and junior Leon Sayers IV. Senior JJ Thomas was named to the All-Defensive Team. Reardon, a two-time transfer hailing from Indiana, provided the sparkplug on offense for the Lights, averaging a team-high 13 points per game. In his first season with the Lights after coming over from Everett Community College, Sayers IV had 139 rebounds and shot the 3-point ball at 36.8 percent. After missing the first eight games of the season, the South Florida native Thomas bounced back in a big way, averaging more than a block per game, which was second in the Frontier.
