Havre Chamber of Commerce Looks Over 2018 Highlights

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Last week, the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce held their 110th annual meeting where Executive Director Jody Olson talked about some highlights for the Chamber from 2018. Olson says that they plan on adding a tourism page to their website as well as possibly printing brochures and buying Facebook advertising.

“The biggest highlight of last year was Havre, again, being recognized as a CVB, a Convention Visitors Bureau. Julie and I worked hard on a marketing plan and a budget. But that affords us “X” amount of dollars each year to be spent to promote Havre.”

Last year, they held the first Arctic Games Ice Fishing Tournament, but it was canceled this year due to the warm weather. Olson says they will still host a chili feed and draw the winners for the raffle.

“The Elks offered to have a chili feed for us, of course, assuming we’d have a bunch of fishermen there. But anybody in town can come to the Elks Saturday night, the 26th at 4 o’clock is the chili feed for just a nominal fee. And then we’re going to have the Facebook Live drawing maybe about 5:30 or so that night for these raffle prizes.”

Olson says that the changes they made to Festival Days went over well and she says some of the changes will likely stick for this year. NorthWestern Energy has also agreed to light up the Town Square.
