Havre Chamber to Kick Off Holiday Season with Several Events on Saturday

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Havre Area Chamber of Commerce is set to kick off the holiday season with a slew of events scheduled for this Saturday, December 4th.

The Tree Lighting and Super Certificate Christmas Giveaway will begin at 5 PM, and Chamber Executive Director Julea Robbins says she’s thrilled to have this back on the calendar after it was canceled last year due to the pandemic.

“The tree lighting is such a huge tradition in Havre. It’s been going on for so many years, and I think it was a big bummer not to be able to hold it last year. I definitely felt it myself. Christmas just didn’t feel the same. So I think that bringing that back is going to be really wonderful. Just being able to see all the families out and celebrating that tradition. It kind of kicks off Christmas and I’m really happy to have it back. And I hope the community is happy, too.”

One new event set for Saturday is a Christmas Glow Run, which will begin at 5:15 PM at Town Square.

“We use to have the Santa Run, where people would dress up as Santa Claus and go running. But it kind of faded out. There was a loss of participation. We haven’t held it for two or three years, and we decided with how well our Marathon went and everything, there seems to be a piqued interest in having different runs around. And glow runs are always a big hit. So we figured this would be a great time to do it and a great year to start it.”

The one-mile will go down 3rd Avenue to 7th Street, then over to 4th Avenue back to Town Square. Registration is $25 and includes a medal, and glow gear. Sign-ups are available on the race website.

Other events include a Holiday Vendor Show from 10 AM-5 PM at the Holiday Village Mall, Cookies and Books with Santa at the Mall from noon-2 PM, Dinosaur Christmas at the Clack Museum from 1-3 PM, the Sub Zero Super Hero Polar Plunge at Town Square at 3 PM, Music in the Art Alley from 3-5 PM, and Live Nativity Drive Through at Methodist Church from 5-7 PM.
