
HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Havre City Council convened on Monday evening at City Hall for their regular monthly meeting and unanimously approved a request to close an alley downtown later this month for the Art Alley Spring Celebration.
The request came from Bear Paw Development on behalf of the Hi-Line Arts Council, which will be hosting the event on Saturday, April 30th from 3-7 PM.
The alley that will be closed during the event is on the 300 block of 3rd and 4th Avenue, 4th Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Street, and the south half of 3rd Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Street.
The event will feature live music and family-friendly activities while encouraging commerce and local shopping.
Alcohol sales will be allowed and will be provided by Crawford Distillery and Montana Actors Theatre.
Other items discussed:
- Alderman Josh Miller said the the Parks and Recreation Committee convened on March 11th and recommended changing the name of US Bank Park in Havre to Veterans Memorial Park. This proposal has been greenlit by US Bank and will include the creation of a memorial at the park. The issue is expected to be voted on by the full council in May. American Legion Post 11 Commander David Brewer said the meeting of the Committee went well and he thanked the city for their support.
- Approval of the confirmation of Officer Lucas Elander as a Probationary Police Officer
- Approval of a proclamation declaring April 25th Arbor Day.
- Paul Tuss of Bear Paw Development provided public comment and shared their economic impact report, thanking the city for their support.
- Approval of March Claims and Manual Warrants.
