The Blue Pony football team captured a (33-28) road victory at East Helena the last time out. With how motivated the team was given the stakes, head coach Jake Eldridge told New Media Broadcasters that the team briefly celebrated before dissecting what corrections needed to be made ahead of practicing for the next one.
“It’s been great,” Eldridge said. “Obviously when you can have a win, you can look at the film and see all the things you did wrong.”
“It’s always better to be able to take those corrections when you come off a (win),” Eldridge continued. “The week has been good. We’ve been prepping just like we have every other week and we’ve got a pretty big game this Friday versus Laurel.”
It’s a near deadlock for these two teams that will clash at Blue Pony Stadium on Friday night. Laurel allows the fifth-fewest points in Class ‘A’ with 81, while Havre is right behind at 113. The Ponies scoring offense is better by three spots, (188-177). Coach Eldridge shared a quick scouting report on the Locomotives.
“Absolutely well coach. Very well coached,” Eldridge said. “(They’re) very strong up front on both sides of the ball. (They’ve) got some great football players.”
“The (Laurel) quarterback is very dynamic and he’s got some athletic receivers and running backs to be able to get the ball to,” Eldridge continued. “That’s going to be a great challenge (on defense) for us. We’re excited about it.”
The (4-2) Ponies host the (5-1) Laurel Locomotives on Friday night. Kyle Leeds will carry the game around 7pm on KOJM-610AM, 98.3FM, 92.5 Digital Channel 3, and HiLineToday.com.
