HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A Havre man pleaded not guilty to nine felonies from three active court cases on Monday in Hill County District Court.
The plea was entered by Joshua Glen Reid. Reid pleaded not guilty to three counts of partner or family member assault (3rd or subsequent offense), and one count each of aggravated burglary, escape, assault on a peace officer, attempt to commit aggravated assault, solicitation to commit obstructing justice and possession of dangerous drugs.
According to affidavits, eight of the counts stem from events that allegedly occurred in June 2020. One of the cases stems from allegations that Reid assaulted a woman three times in 36 hours in early June.
The other is alleged to have occurred on June 12th, when Reid tried to escape from custody by running from Northern Montana Hospital.
The incident in which the third case stems from is alleged to have occurred in April, when Havre Police Officers say they found Reid to be in possession of methamphetamine.
Also pleading not guilty on Monday was Stephen L. Newbury, who was charged with felony conspiracy to commit obstructing justice for allegedly attempting to aid Reid in his escape.
On July 1st, Reid pleaded guilty in a separate case on allegations of forging over $9,000 worth of checks in Havre in January and February 2020. At the same hearing, Reid admitted to violating the conditions of his release in a 2016 case where he was given a 60 month suspended sentence for theft by embezzlement
Reid remains in the Hill County Detention Center, while Newbury has previously posted bond.
