Havre Public Works narrows production issue to water filters.

(Havre) The Havre Department of Public Works and the Havre Water Treatment Plant discussed during Monday’s city council meeting that they’ve narrowed the water treatment plant’s bottlenecking issues down to being caused by the plant’s water filters.

For almost a year, the Havre Water Treatment Plant has had a notable issue in producing water, that is to say cleaning and sending out water for use by the public. As of now, that process is much slower than what would be considered normal by plant standards.

The filters in the plant, according to Department of Public Works Director Trevor Mork, were at one point coated in a substance meant to aid in filtering, but that substance was not cleaned properly and in turn has actually created a bigger issue.

Moving forward, treatment plant officials have said that they’ll be replacing parts, but due to costs of said parts they will be made in house rather than ordering a replacement.
