It’s School Lunch Hero Day & NMB Spoke With Lincoln-Mckinley Primary School

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Today is School Lunch Hero Day and the Montana Office of Public Instruction is honoring all school nutrition specialists across the state for their outstanding service and efforts this year.

Lincoln-McKinley Primary School’s Principal Holly Bitz said their cafeteria staff serves about 500 meals a day but they always seem to find time to make a personal connection with every student.

“They’ll ask them if they’d like to be sung to and, if they say yes, the whole cafeteria kind of breaks out in song and sings to them – kinda makes their day a little more special. I know for Dr. Suess day they all dress up as characters and read the stories as they serve. So, they really just try to make that personal connection with them. We’re so thankful to our cafeteria staff, because they truly are heroes.”

Bitz said their cafeteria staff always goes the extra mile and makes sure that each student feels loved.

“They enjoy their jobs and I think that shows and makes people very comfortable to be around them. Not only do they provide that necessary service, but they go a step above and beyond, and really watch out for our students and take care of them and let them know that their loved.”

Today, New Media Broadcasters would like to invite everyone to say thank you to their local school lunch heroes for their amazing service and efforts this year.
