Native Montana Teams to Feature at National High School Basketball Tournament

The National American Basketball Invitational will be taking place in mid-July, and there will be lots of Montanans representing the Treasure State and their Tribes.

The Tournament features 136 teams of youth aged 14-19 playing at gyms in the Phoenix, Arizona metro area between July 17th and July 23rd.

In the girls division, the teams from Montana are the Rockhawks and TBZ.

On the boys side, the Montana teams are the Bomb Squad, the Fort Peck Boys, the Rockhawks, Southern Cree, and Warrior Movement.

Local tribes that will be represented on these teams includes Chippewa, Cree, Assiniboine, Aaniiih, Nakoda, and Blackfeet.

The semifinals and championship games for both the boys and girls will be streamed live on ESPN+. This marks the first time an all-Native youth sporting event will be featured on a major sports network platform.
