HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Havre’s City Council met Tuesday night and appointed a new city judge. After talking with the three applicants, Janie Hedstrom was sworn in as the new judge. The other candidates were Scott Guyant and Josh Miller. Susan Brurud had withdrawn her application before the meeting.
The Council gave each candidate up to ten minutes to introduce themselves, then the Council and a member of the public asked specific questions. In the end, Hedstrom was chosen with four votes, versus two votes for Miller. Two Councilmembers did not attend the meeting.
Hedstrom was a teacher for over 30 year and is currently the Administrative Assistant for the Havre Police Department. She did disclose to the Council that the City Prosecutor is married to her nephew.
