(NMB) Thursday marked the opening rounds for both boys and girls at the State A basketball tournament in Butte.
In afternoon play, the Havre Lady Blue Ponies advanced to semi final action after defeating the Browning Indians 54-44.
Ariana Gary led the charge at 13 points for the contest, while Amaya Jarvis and Sierra Parker each dropped 10.
The final evening session for the boys brackets, the Havre Blue Ponies dropped to a 34-24 halftime deficit against Hamilton. Havre surged to outscore the Broncs 20-13 in the third, but the Broncs were able to control the final eight minutes, to hold on for a 60-55 victory.
Tre Gary headed up Pony scoring with 21 points, with Jackson Headdress adding 10.
Into Friday, the Havre Blue Ponies have a 10:30a loser out meeting with the Billings Central Rams, while the Lady Blue Ponies look to face the Lady Rams of Billings sentral in semi final play scheduled for 6:30p. Listen to both games live from Butte on KOJM, and at hilinetoday dot com on the web.
