Poverty Flats Fire Fully Contained

BIG HORN COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – The 66,000 acre Poverty Flats Fire has been fully contained as of Tuesday evening.

The fire, which burned sage, grass and timber 6 miles northeast of the town of Hardin, has been determined to have been sparked by a burning coal seam on July 27th.

One outbuilding was destroyed by the fire.

Resources are now being demobilized and the incident will be turned back over from federal officials to Big Horn County and Crow Agency to manage.
