Redesignation of the Beaver Creek Park Lodge Project Creates Cost Savings

(Havre) – The Hill County Park Board received some good news recently about the Beaver Creek Lodge project at Camp Kiwanis in the Bear Paw Mountains.

Chairman Jeff Jensen announced at their monthly meeting on Monday night, that the architectural firm that the Hill County Park Board has hired to design the plans for the new lodge building, talked to the State of Montana Architectural and Engineering department and the new building has been reclassified by the state from an A2 building to and A3 building.

The A2 and A3 designations deal with Fire Suppression needs in buildings. After discussions with the Bear Paw Volunteer Fire Department, and the City of Havre Fire Department, the park board found out that both agencies could respond to a fire at Beaver Creek Lodge within 20 minutes. Since both departments can respond so quickly if needed for a fire, the new lodge will not need a built in fire suppression system which will save about $300,000 on the total cost of the project.
