Seventh Major Party Candidate Enters Race for New US House District

HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – A seventh major party candidate has entered the 2022 race for Montana’s new western congressional district.

Tom Winter, a former State Legislator from Missoula, officially announced his candidacy on Wednesday. The other three Democrats in the race are former State Legislator Laurie Bishop, lawyer Monica Tranel, and public health professional Cora Neumann.

On the Republican side, the three candidates so far are former Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, former State Senator Al Olszewski, and pastor Mary Todd.

The boundary of the new district has not yet been finalized, but that process must be completed by mid-November.
