Some Local Fairs Plan to Proceed, Others to Decide Soon

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – With the COVID-19 pandemic still looming, county fairs across the Hi-Line have been facing the difficult decision over whether to proceed as planned.

As the state has moved into phase 2 of reopening, several local fairs have already stated their intention to proceed as planned.

This includes the Blaine County Fair (August 12-16), the Chouteau County Fair (August 13-16) and the Phillips County Fair (July 30-August 2).

The Marias Fair in Shelby (July 15-19), which is a combined effort from Toole, Glacier, Liberty and Pondera Counties, has yet to make a final determination but plans on proceeding as scheduled. Their Fair Board will meet June 3 to continue discussions.

As for the Great Northern Fair in Havre (July 15-19), a final decision on whether to hold the fair is expected to be made at their upcoming June 2 board meeting.

The fairs that go on this summer are expected to put precautions in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
