(Helena) – Montana Fish,Wildlife, and Parks advised hunters who signed up for the Surplus License List that they were to be randomized and selected on July 21st . The list includes licenses and permits left over from the special license and permit drawing for deer and elk permits and deer b and elk b licenses and permits.
FWP contacted hunters who were at the top of the list via email wiht instructions to finalize theri purchase within a specific time.
This new process for the sale of surplus Licenses began in 2020 in response to issues in the past years where the process was vulnerable to long lag times, confusion and a perception of inequity for those unable to use the first-come, first served online option.
