(Missoula County) Authorities have identified the victim in a fatal UTV crash that happened Saturday morning in a remote area north of
Frenchtown. The Missoula County Sheriff’s Office says 87-year-old Lawrence “Larry” Exe of Frenchtown was killed when the side-by-side
rolled down an embankment in the Mill Creek-Roman Creek area. Investigators say Exe was attempting to maneuver around debris on a
decommissioned road before the vehicle went off the roadway and overturned. Emergency crews, including Frenchtown Rural Fire District,
Missoula County Search and Rescue, and Life Flight, responded, but difficult terrain and heavy tree cover complicated rescue efforts. A
passenger was evaluated at the scene and survived. Authorities are reminding off-road vehicle users to wear seatbelts and follow safety
precautions this hunting season.
